"Stunning . . . spectacular . . . touching." - The Current, St, Louis
Kardia is an installation of acid-etched mouth blown and float glass, 10' x 10', commissioned by the Regional Arts Commission in St. Louis. The artist hand-painted the glass with wax, creating patterns of varying light when the glass was etched with acid. This double-sided artwork is permanently installed at street level into the exterior wall of the Cultural Resource Center in St. Louis, creating a landmark along Delmar Boulevard with varying appearance inside and out, by day and by night. Cochran etched the exterior layer of glass with text gathered from residents of different ages and backgrounds from the surrounding neighborhoods. The text is from the handwriting of a 17th century scribe. Click any image to enlarge.
