"Epic . . . an inquiry into the relationship of personal and public history." -- Public Art Review

The Dreaming is a five story tall, layered installation of architectural art glass, weaving, painting, and etched stone created by William Cochran and integrated into a landmark 1923 hotel building at an ancient crossroads in Frederick, Maryland. The Dreaming involved numerous residents and many organizations in its creation, as well as weaver Margaret Hluch, Derix Glasstudios (technical partner for the glass fabrication), calligrapher Julian Waters and six painting assistants. It explores the role of personal imagination and innovation in the cultural heritage of its city.

• The Dreaming is located at 31 West Patrick Street in the historic theater district of Frederick, Maryland, across from the Wienberg Center for the Arts (directions: www.weinbergcenter.org/aboutDirections.asp). There is parking on the street and in nearby parking decks. The artwork is open 24 hours a day and is a five-block walk from the Tourism Visitor's Center. Call 301-600-2888 for more information.
