"Stunning . . . spectacular . . . touching." - The Current, St, Louis Kardia is an architectural art glass installation of acid-etched mouth-blown glass. It was commissioned by the Regional Arts Commission in St. Louis for its Cultural Resource Center on Delmar Boulevard. The artist hand-painted the glass with hot wax in layers, creating patterns of light and color when the glass was repeatedly etched with acid. The artwork is double-sided; the exterior surface is covered with text gathered from residents from the surrounding neighborhoods, engraved in the handwriting of a 17th century scribe. |
