Song Cycles |
Located beside a bicycle path, Song Cycles plays against the monotony of traffic on Little Patuxent Parkway.
Two spiral-shaped "riding horns" in stainless steel invite visitors to activate pedal mechanisms, causing sound and light via integrated drivers and concealed fixtures. The tails hold rotors of dichroic glass vanes in an axial configuration. Two standing “tree horns” on opposite columns complete the plaza’s acoustical array.
When the pedaling on the horns is sustained, the sound they produce transforms into quietly melodic percussion that culminates in a pulse of light within the plaza. |
